Customization and client

Visual effect runes

Combine up to three cosmetic runes in Rune Effects without consuming them.

Open Rune Effects

Open the Equip window and click the rune symbol on its bottom bar. You need a Rigel client compatible with Rune Effects and the matching system installed on the server. If the button is missing, check that you are using the server's updated client.

These runes provide visual effects, not stats or Rune Knight skills. The window has three slots for three different rune types. You cannot place the same item type in two slots.

Equip, replace and remove

  1. Keep a compatible rune in your inventory and open Rune Effects.
  2. Drag the rune from your inventory to an empty slot. Wait for the server response.
  3. To replace it, drag another rune onto that slot: the previous rune is released and the new one is reserved.
  4. To remove it, click its row's − button or double-click the selected rune.

Right-click opens the item description without removing the rune. There is no Apply button: each change is requested immediately. Closing the window does not unequip your runes.

My rune disappeared from the inventory

This is expected: the system reserves one unit for the effect without consuming it. If you owned one, it no longer appears in the inventory while selected. If you owned five, four remain visible as available.

Removing the rune makes that unit visible again. The character still owns the item and its weight remains. Remove the rune from Rune Effects before trying to trade, store, sell or drop its reserved stack. The reserved unit cannot be used for card insertion or deleted as an available item.

Selections are saved per character and restored on reconnect if the rune is still valid and present in that character's inventory. A stack may remain separate from other copies of the same item after using this system.

Compatible runes and other effects

Only runes in the server's catalog are accepted; ordinary cards and items merely named "Rune" are not automatically compatible. Examples include Twinkle Effect, Electric Effect and Green Flare Effect. Names, icons and descriptions come from the client's resources.

Changing a selection costs no Zeny and consumes no rune. The window does not provide or sell runes. Effects provided by other equipment remain when you remove a rune providing the same effect.

For level aura customization, see Aurora, a separate service.

When a change cannot be completed

  • Waiting for server...: wait for the response before taking another action.
  • Inventory changed. Try again.: your inventory changed; reopen the window and select the rune again.
  • Close other actions and try again.: close trading, storage, vending or NPC dialogs. Runes cannot be changed while dead, changing maps or performing another blocking action.
  • Unable to save. No changes applied.: the server could not save; the requested change is not applied. Try again later.
  • Rune Effects is unavailable.: the service is unavailable; contact the server team.
  • No response. Reopen Rune Effects.: after ten seconds without a response, close and reopen the window.

The server may clear a selection that is no longer valid and require synchronization again. If the window and inventory disagree, reopen the window before repeating the action.
